14th Annual LSUS Alumni/Capital One Pilots Golf Classic Set for 2012
The 2012 LSUS Alumni Association Capital One Pilots Golf Classic will be held Friday, May 4,2012 at Olde Oaks Golf Club. The tournament raises funds for scholarships, programs, projects and services that benefit LSUS. To sponsor a team or volunteer, please contact the Alumni Office at 318-797-5190 or click HERE.
In May of 2011, alumni, staff, faculty and student volunteers hosted 130 players in an 11:00 a.m. "shotgun" start. For more information, click on "Golf Tournament."
Commencement Receptions
The Alumni Association hosts a reception for graduates, faculty and alumni before the Fall and Spring Commencement Services. Alumni Board Directors and other alumni serve as volunteers.
The Association Board of Directors meets at least three times during the year in addition to the Annual Meeting. Directors also serve on committees which meet separately, and manage various events and projects for the University.
Alumni Association Annual Meeting
The Alumni Association holds one "general membership" meeting per year, the Annual Meeting, usually in late May or early June.
The 2012 Annual Meeting will be held Friday, June 15, at East Ridge Country Club from 6-9 pm. The 2012 Distinguished Alumni Award winner and eight Circle of Excellence Award winners will be recognized.The program also includes honoring Alumni Board Directors who are retiring from service, welcoming incoming Officers and Directors, a brief business meeting, remarks from LSUS students or recent graduates, a buffet dinner, and door prizes. The Michael DeArmond Band will entertain. This event offers an excellent opportunity for fellowship and networking. The 2011 Annual Meeting was held at Villaggio Lakehouse Conference Center in Bossier City and hosted by John (BS 1977) and Cheryl Good.
RiverBend Revue Silent Auction - September 7, 2011 - Horseshoe Riverdome
The 2011 RiverBend Revue honored two outstanding community leaders and brothers, Bruce and Steve Simon, in a musical review entitled "Simply Simons." Simply put, the entire Simon family has supported LSUS for more than 30 years, providing generous resources to faculty, students and administrative leadership through the LSUS Foundation and LSUS Alumni Association. Adding to the evening's fun was Master of Ceremonies - fellow alum and stand-up comic, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator, Class of '75. RiverBend Revue is the LSUS Foundation's black-tie-optional gala which toasts the Pilot(s) of the Year. To volunteer or donate, call the Alumni Office at 318-797-5190.
Our 2011 volunteers and Alumni Department intern Carlette Cantu (sophomore in accounting) secured almost 80 high-quality items for the auction. The volunteers also managed the auction, which included a custom golf car, fine jewelry and LSU football game tickets.
A sell-out audience of 450 potential bidders helped raise nearly $11,500 for LSUS. The Alumni Association's silent auction proceeds total more than $62,000 for the event's four-year history.
